I ordered a red velvet cake because they have the best I’ve ever tasted. However, the last one I ordered was terrible. There was more buttercream than cream cheese frosting and the cake itself tasted dry. Everyone who ate a slice told me that the cake was not good. I said that can’t be because I ordered it from Riesterer’s. When I cut a slice for myself, I was highly disappointed. The whole taste changed. I spoke to the chef and he said this is the new recipe and said I should avoid this cake if I don’t like it because that’s the new recipe. Unbelievable. Buyer beware. They messed up one of their best cakes. 3 stars because of the wonderful cakes I’ve had in the past. Otherwise, this experience made it a 0.
Update: Red Velvet is back! Maybe it was a fluke and I got a bad cake the last time, but I did not want to give up on this place because I am in love with their red velvet cake. No one makes it like they do. Can’t get enough. They offered store credit and I got another one. It was so good. Oh my goodness. I love this place.

Designing a cake exactly how you want it to appear for those fun birthdays to represent the personality of the birthday boys or girls is always fun. Tom is great at designing and giving you what you want. He cares about making sure it looks good even if its a last minute cake (which I recommend giving a few days or a week or 2 at least in advance) but it's the taste that takes it to the next level. Never disappointed weather it's vanilla or chocolate mousse, cannoli, whipped cream with or without strawberries or pineapple, or anything you like. I have tried them all and they are all delicious. The hamburger cake is only done during memorial day or July 4th for those BBQ outings. They also have a hot dog and sandwich sub hero cake. place an order for those as they go quick. They look real and taste delicious. Once you enter the bakery you will not be able to stop so bring a friend to help you carry some dessert. The cookies, donuts, éclaire, fruit cups, croissants (stuffed or not) cupcakes, cake pops, pies, chocolate, breads, muffins and so much more will add to make any event extra special. I highly recommend their bakery for all those dessert needs. special occasions or every day events. Everything on theses cakes were edible (No one wanted to eat the boy on the bed, just felt out of place. LOL)

Came here for the first time. Picked up a variety of pastries to taste and tryout, to see if they would be a good fit for my families thanksgiving day pie.
Their pastries are absolutely delicious and reasonably priced.
I will be coming here for my thanksgiving pies.

We had a simple nutritious lunch of soup and a roll, followed by dessert. The wraps are generous and delicious. The coffee is very good too. I often buy cookies or parve cakes for Shabbat.

Best. Cake. Ever!! I came to Reisterer’s bakery a week ago because I wanted a really special custom cake for one of my closest friends. I decided to come here because I saw some of their custom cakes, and I felt like they could really capture my vision for the cake.
I visited the store in person to see if I could talk about the cake with someone. I met Dalia, an incredible employee who guided me through the whole emailing process on the cake. I sent them inspiration photos, and I included details about the flavor of the cake along with text I wanted to get on the cake. To say the least, my expectations were blown through the roof!! The communication was incredible, they frequently kept in touch and gave me updates on the cake, and informed me on anything I needed to send them to help. (Such as photos) They were so patient with me, and I ended up getting the cake a few minutes before closing time because I was busy with work, but they were so patient and understanding. I truly appreciated that. The cake was so beautiful and tasty, too! I think anyone who lives in LI, or even in NYC should give these guys a try someday. It’s worth it. I will be coming back very soon.

Outstanding local bakery. They make the best carrot cake. Also recommend their Napoleon cake & donuts. Seasonal cheesecakes are also fantastic, usually made to order.

Stumbled on Reisterer's by chance. Passing by, was intrigued by the extra-wide storefront.
Are they really there, or is is this just space grab?
Turned out, this place has 94 years' historical import. And, it shows in the a affinal interactions we saw with every patron (of course excluding us).
Their assortment and quantity of off-shelf dairy/dairy-free cookies is mind boggling. Surely must be selling all of it (that's where 94 years' muscle memory whacks new age data modeling!).
And that's the lesser part of expansive display. Cakes - for all occasions, and no occasion - appear to be the mainstay. Fair selection of celebratory stationary complements the stuff behind glass displays running from end-to-end.
Coffee dispensers (hot and iced) are just there. More for those desperate to get a caffeine fix, than as a competing revenue stream.
Seating for 25, including on the counter, also appeared to be just there; reflecting changes in consumer preference.
'Nostalgia Wall', with photos from each decade, stood out as a beacon of history and tradition. How we wish they made it more of a cynosure (hardly any additions in last 7-8 years) with proper framing, protecting from the onset of weathering.
To us, store fixtures and floor looked like on the verge of obsolescence. Time for a reboot. That is, with renovation finances and stringent requirements of Kashrus certification permitting.
